DLA: A New Wave of Mentors
Saturday, the Davitto Leadership Academy kicked off its second mentor training in preparation for the Spring 2019 cohort. A new wave of mentors came out to American River College on a rainy Saturday to give their time towards the success of the future participants. Throughout the day, the new mentors participated in activities that helped to bring them out of their comfort zones and to connect with one another. Krystle Tonga, AES’s Director of Training shares the importance of this, “It’s about taking off that ‘cool jacket’ so they can get into a space of embracing their own greatness and who they are, to be able to give that back to others.”
Throughout the day, the mentors learn the importance of sharing their stories with their mentees and we’re introduced to the Carter Resilience Model of Mentorship. By the end of the day, the DLA mentors were geared up and ready to help the new cohort make real change.
