AES: Breaking the Chains

Last Saturday, Alliance for Education Solutions and HAWK partnered together during the first AES Youth Summit of 2019. Breaking the Chains was a day dedicated to taking action against police brutality. The partnership between AES and HAWK created new connections between youth of the Sacramento area. By sharing experiences, connecting, and building bridges cross-culturally and cross-generationally, the two organizations were able to start taking action with a real plan. Unlike other programs that leave you wanting, only fulfilling a temporary space of discussion, this AES Youth Summit went above and beyond to get to the core of real change. “We don’t just talk about it, we be about it.” Discussions turned into action plans as youth and adults from the Sacramento area collaborated on practical solutions to end tragedies like the Stephon Clark murder. What a powerful day!
