SYA CAT: Kicking Off 2019
The Sacramento Youth Alliance Community Action Team (SYA CAT) launched their Kickoff event for 2019 on Saturday, March 02. Spurring change within Sacramento, SYA CAT is an AES and Opportunity Youth United initiative, aimed at providing a platform for young folks to create real change in the political arena.
The Kickoff brought together, graduates of the Davitto Leadership Academy (DLA), long-time participants of SYA, and a few new faces. The day began with ice breaker activities to bring the group closer and for the participants to start making real connections. After lunch, discussion surrounding the Stephon Clark trial filled the room. While decisions about the incident were being made by the government, just a few miles away, the SYA CAT team came together to collaborate on practical solutions so a tragedy like Clark’s murder can be prevented in the future.
