Youth board member since 2016, Theo is active in youth empowerment and activism in several communities. Serving as the treasurer and council member of YRUUP for over two years, Theo engages with social action issues in an entirely youth-lead environment. Theo also works with San Juan Unified School District’s Equity Focus Group, Equity Advisory Council, and Teens For Change to bring about change in school environments, and enjoys policy making and reform. Theo is also involved in local activism, especially supporting transgender and nonbinary youth and youth struggling with mental illness, working with the Gender Health Center and local PFLAG groups to support youth who are struggling. Theo works on zir school campus to provide resources, information, and support to youth who may be marginalized, and is passionate about restorative justice, social justice, and environmental justice. Theo runs a blog dedicated to social justice in zir spare time, and also enjoys visual art and environmental studies, particularly botany.
A senior at Mira Loma High School, Theo will complete the International Baccalaureate Programme in May, and will graduate high school by June. Theo hopes to attend college and continue student empowerment, restorative justice, and equity work in college communities.
