SYA CAT: A Kickoff of Success!
Over the weekend, Sacramento Youth Alliance Community Action Team (SYA CAT) launched its first kickoff event of the season. Saturday turned out a smaller crowd which gave the team the opportunity to collaborate in a more intimate setting. Discussions were aimed at developing effective ways to bring SYA to the public and ended with a valuable talk regarding Sacramento’s various districts and the education systems within.
Sunday finished off the weekend with a full turnout of participants. The atmosphere was lively with an array of young people sharing different perspectives. Through activities and discussions, young folks learned what it means to be an SYA CAT member and how valuable their voice is. The climax of the day was a highly engaging Policy Voting Simulator, followed by a National Voter Registration Day Competition; both of which, provided the participants valuable insight regarding voting and how critical informed policy decisions are.
